The Story Behind “Teach Me Grace”

By Mark A. Fairclough · October 19, 2026

I wrote “Teach Me Grace” as a prayer to God. I was carrying the hurt and pain of betrayal by people I had helped and supported. The experience affected my livelihood and left anger and hate in my heart.

I asked God to forgive me for holding on to those feelings. I needed Him to take the hurt, pain and bitterness out of my heart and help me become a better man.

I want listeners to feel my pain and recognize something of their own. If you have been betrayed or deeply hurt, I want you to know that you can overcome that pain. Holding on to it can keep hurting you long after the experience itself.

“Teach Me Grace” is my prayer for healing and my hope that others can find healing too.

Forgiveness is for winners.
