JamaicanTube practical guides

From a song link to a complete artist submission

A practical JamaicanTube guide to preparing music, credits, artwork and interview material for editorial review.

Prepared for JamaicanTube · General editorial guidance

Make the first listen easy

A useful submission lets an editor hear the work, understand who made it and contact the right person without searching across several messages. Start with one listening link and the exact release title. If you are sharing a video before release, check that its viewing permissions allow the recipient to open it. Test the link in a signed-out browser. A link that works only for the account owner can stop a submission before anyone hears the first note.

Send the version you actually want considered. Label clean edits, remixes, instrumentals and live recordings clearly. A remix is a distinct version, so give it a version name rather than sending two indistinguishable files. If your release is not yet public, state the intended release date and whether any material must remain private. Do not assume that sending a song also requests immediate publication.

Give every contributor a clear credit

Separate the artist name from the songwriter, arranger, producer and featured performer credits. List the exact spelling you want used. If a business or label is handling the submission, identify a contact who can answer questions about the material. A short, readable credit block is more useful than a long paragraph in which the roles overlap.

Only submit recordings, photographs and artwork that you own or have permission to share. Tell the editor if an image requires a photographer credit or has restrictions on cropping. Supplying a listening link does not establish permission to reuse a separate photograph. Keep a record of the permissions you have obtained so questions can be resolved before publication.

Write a story around the release

A biography should help a reader understand the artist, rather than repeat promotional adjectives. Explain where the work fits in your musical journey, what the song explores and what makes this release different from your previous work. Two specific paragraphs are usually easier to use than pages of unsupported claims about being the next major star.

For an interview, suggest a real conversation: a creative decision, the making of the recording, a community connection or a lesson from performing. Include your availability and time zone. Distinguish a confirmed performance from a plan or an invitation. If you mention an award, provide the awarding organization's announcement rather than a graphic alone.

Prepare the visual package

Send a clear cover image without phone-screen controls, unrelated watermarks or tiny embedded text. Keep important faces, titles and logos away from the outer edges so the artwork can adapt to different placements. Include the original image as well as a finished cover if a credit or crop needs checking. A square cover and a separate landscape image give an editor more options than one crowded design.

For JamaicanTube, use the homepage submission form. Smaller attachments must stay within its stated total limit; share larger videos through a viewable hosting link. Include your email, content title and a concise explanation of what you are submitting. Publication is subject to review. This guide describes preparation, not a promise of coverage or a payment requirement.

Before you press submit

Open the listening link, verify the title and version, check all credits, confirm artwork permissions and provide one working contact address. Remove passwords, private access tokens and unrelated personal documents. Keep your original files and the final submission together so any follow-up can refer to the same release.
